Environmental Demonstration Grants

The Environmental Stewardship Award is intended to recognize the community that has demonstrated outstanding efforts to address an environmental issue and has established a sense of stewardship as part of its Sullivan Renaissance 2008 project. Finalists will be selected based upon completion of the 2008 project and this application. Judges will visit the projects during the Renaissance judging weekend and, if appropriate, award an Environmental Stewardship Grant in the amount of $1,000 to one community in each category.

A limited number of demonstration grants will be available. Grant amounts typically range between $500 and $2500. Applicants must demonstrate some level of a match either monetary or in-kind. Proposals and relevant documentation will be accepted beginning March 17, 2008 and will be considered on a first come, first served basis through July 1, 2008 based on funding availability.

Mini Grant

Sullivan Renaissance offers a limited number of $200 grants to communities that would like to "get their feet wet" or participate at a "mini" level by planting flowers, removing debris and sprucing up. When the project is done, the group sends "after photos" and copies of receipts for reimbursement.

Seasonal Community Demonstration Projects

Sullivan Renaissance will make available a limited number of matching grants to bungalow colonies, summer camps and other seasonal businesses for projects to improve the appearance of their property. For details call the Sullivan Renaissance office at 845-295-2445.

Municipal Clean-up Program

Sullivan Renaissance offers a limited number of matching grants to municipalities to take down unsightly buildings or cleanup roadsides. The tipping fees are waived by Sullivan County Government. Municipalities may use in-kind services, private and/or foundation funds and other sources of revenue for the match.

Spruce up Your School Grounds

A limited number of grants are available to classes or youth groups for small projects at their school or in their community. A workshop on volunteerism is available to meet the needs of any youth group. Additional recognition grants will be awarded in August.

Programs for Young People

There are many opportunities for young people throughout Sullivan County to be part of changing their community. Sullivan Renaissance is pleased to offer programs that engage youth to make a difference!
